Some of the toughest duty your RV
sees is not traveling down the highway, but parked, often for months,
off-duty and exposed to the elements. Very few RV owners are fortunate
enough to be able to park their motorhome, travel trailer or fifth-wheel
inside a garage. The next best solution is an RV cover.
ADCO has recently introduced a new and innovative cover that overcomes
the disadvantages found in previous ready-fit covers, making them
as user friendly as the considerably more expensive custom-made
RV covers.
ADCO’s new Zipper Access Ready Fit RV cover features zipper-entry
panels. These are strategically placed to accommodate any side door
or opening along the passenger side of the rig. The longer the RV,
the more zipper panels are added down the side, and they have white,
automotive-grade zippers.
The new cover features a bright white top made from DuPont Tyvek
with high-performance polypropylene sides to ensure maximum breathability,
thus virtually eliminating mold and mildew. The water-resistant
Tyvek material combines the breathability of a natural fabric with
the increased water resistance of a coated fabric.
Tyvek covers keep out 98% of particles larger than 3 microns, virtually
eliminating the penetration of all dust. Finally, Tyvek is especially
effective in locations with intense sunshine. The material blocks
99.8% of the sun’s damaging UV rays so that the paint and interior
surfaces of leather, fabric, rubber or vinyl are kept like new,
without fading or cracking. It also protects your RV from dirt and
dust, rain and pollution, bird droppings and tree debris. The white
Tyvek top will also aid in keeping your RV cooler by reflecting
the sun’s infrared rays.
The version of Tyvek that ADCO uses is officially called “Tyvek
RV” by Dupont. It’s similar to the Tyvek used in house wrap for
insulation, but is purchased in an automotive grade.
Other features of the new cover include strap and buckle attachments
that prevent billowing in windy locations and result in a custom-made
appearance. The reinforced corners resist tears and snags.
There are two basic styles: One type
of cover comes in lengths of 20 to 40 feet for Class A’s and trailers
with widths up to 102 inches. A second style is for Class C’s with
lengths from 20 and 32 feet and will accommodate Class C’s of up
to 108 inches tall to 102 inches wide. Covers for Class C’s have
a tapered front end for a better fit.
A bag is provided for storage, and the covers weigh from 20 to 39
pounds, which is especially appreciated when it comes to covering
your rig. The covers come with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
This new RV cover is the second RV cover changeover or upgrade for
ADCO in the past two years. ADCO has dropped the DuraVent line and
replaced it with a fabric made specifically for ADCO called SFS
Aqua-Shed. This new fabric features a new UV inhibitor from Germany
that will lengthen the life of the fabric, as well as a thickened
middle layer of film in the material.
ADCO, located in Southern California,
is a four-generation family business that was established in 1955.
It offers a line of RV accessories for both original equipment manufacturers
and aftermarket customers. Other ADCO RV products include custom
front-end masks and Tyre Gards to protect tires, as well as covers
for air conditioners, vent covers, rear-mounted bikes, windshields,
fifth-wheels, satellites and propane tanks.
